Understanding ovarian and uterine cancers: Who is at risk and how are they treated?
Uterine cancer was the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in 2024 and the fifth leading cause of cancer death. Ovarian cancer followed as the sixth. The risk of developing uterine cancer is on the rise. Fortunately, there are ways to reduce the risk of developing uterine and ovarian cancers. In the last decade, there have been several new advances in the way that we treat these cancers, while clinical trials continue to evaluate new treatment options and quality of life for survivors.
In this Simon Says session, Jessica Parker, MD, a gynecologic oncologist and assistant professor at the IU School of Medicine, discussed risk factors, diagnosis and treatment of these common and life-threatening cancers affecting women around the world.
