Genetic and molecular epidemiological studies

The Epidemiology/Study Design Core at IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center provides epidemiological expertise and experience to population and clinical research (non-clinical trials), and education in epidemiology and study design.

We have substantial expertise and experience in genetic and molecular epidemiological studies in clinical and population settings. Examples include:

• Research project development
• Grant application development and grantsmanship
• Case-control selection (why and how)
• Case sample preparation and storage (avoidance of biased results)
• Tumor and adjacent normal tissues
• Interpretation (reverse causation)
• Manuscript preparation

Available services

Members in the Epidemiology Core collaborate with clinicians and basic scientists who are interested in and/or working on population research, and provide expertise and consultation in the area of population research, including: 

• Genetic and molecular epidemiologic research population-based research study design
• Measurements of risk/exposure (gene or environment related) selection of appropriate biospecimens for research
• Project development
• Grant application preparation
• Manuscript preparation
