Cancer Survivorship

Handling Life with Cancer

Cancer survivorship begins the day of your diagnosis and continues throughout your life. As survivors navigate through the different phases of their cancer journey, the Office of Community Outreach and Engagement, through its community partnerships and programs, can help you to address different challenges that emerge after completing therapy. We understand that survivorship is a distinct phase of the cancer care continuum. Our mission is to improve the lives of cancer survivors by encouraging healthy lifestyles practices.

The survivorship care that we focus on are:

  • Prevention of recurrent cancers
  • Promotion of routine screening for the early detection of new cancers
  • Interventions to help with effects of cancer and its treatment
  • Connecting individuals to a community of care to help navigate life

We focus on the following healthy lifestyle practices:

  • Smoking cessation
  • Healthy eating
  • Physical activity practice
  • Mental and emotional self-care
  • Screenings

Our team works with community partners across Indiana to best serve your needs.
