Full Membership

  • Access to the biostatistics, data management, and clinical research office shared facilities at a reduced rate
  • Access to ITRAC services
  • Potential for enhanced interaction and collaboration via membership in one of the IUSCCC’s highly translational, inter-campus programs
  • Access to the IUSCCC searchable database, an electronic tool to allow researchers to enter and edit information and conduct hierarchical searches for potential collaborators
  • Access to IUSCCC communications, including distribution lists for seminar announcements, IUSCCC Grand Rounds, RFAs, grant announcements, e-newsletter, and special events
  • Access to ongoing clinical trials available at IUSCCC*
  • Preferential scheduling and reduced rates for all cancer center shared facilities
  • Grant assistance for T32s and program grants (PPGs and SPOREs)
  • Eligibility for IUSCCC pilot project funding via ITRAC
  • Eligibility for leadership positions within IUSCCC

Programmatically aligned members also become a part of one of the four IUSCCC research programs:

  • Cancer Prevention and Control
  • Experimental and Developmental Therapeutics
  • Hematopoiesis and Hematologic Malignancies
  • Tumor Microenvironment and Metastasis

* Must meet criteria (Human Subjects Review); certain trials limited to main institution.

 

  • Full-time faculty member
  • Publish on cancer-related research; intra-programmatic and inter-programmatic collaborative publications of highest priority
  • Principal Investigator on an actively-funded NCI or other peer-reviewed, cancer-related research grant (as defined by NCI guidelines) OR one of the following:
  • Principal Investigator of IUSCCC Investigator Initiated Trial
  • Service as protocol chairperson for a national peer-reviewed (CTEP) clinical trial
  • Service as a senior leader of a national peer-reviewed funded cooperative group
  • Service as a lead investigator initiated cancer-related clinical trial

Full members will have two years after losing peer-reviewed grant funding to renew their funding or their status will change to inactive. Full members without funding but have pending peer-reviewed grants may be continued as a full member on a case-by-case basis.

In addition, full members must have published within the last three years or the membership status will change to inactive.

  • Submission as PI or co-PI on a cancer-relevant grant
  • Presentation of data at internal or external scientific meetings
  • Publication as contributing author on peer-reviewed articles/book chapters
  • Collaborative efforts via grants, publications, or active membership in an IUSCCC working group
  • Regularly attend cancer seminars and IUSCCC Grand Rounds
  • Serve on various cancer center committees, participate in summer research programs, mentorship, and other cancer center activities when called upon; failure to participate will result in the member being ineligible for pilot funding through the cancer center for up to two years
  • Recognize the support of the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center on publications, when appropriate
  • Attend regular program meetings
  • Present at cancer center-sponsored seminars and Grand Rounds
  • Support the educational and philanthropic mission of the cancer center through private and public offerings
