How to qualify

  • Candidate must have been accepted into a PhD graduate program at IUPUI or IU Bloomington and completed their first year of training.
  • Candidate must have interest in multi- and interdisciplinary scientific training in cancer prevention and control research consistent with the ongoing work of the primary mentor.
  • A primary mentor with a program of ongoing, peer reviewed, extramurally funded research at R01 level or equivalent.
  • A secondary mentor from a discipline different from that of the primary mentor.
  • Joint development (Mentor and Fellow) of a training plan.
  • Evidence of primary research focus in cancer prevention and control with desire to have interdisciplinary training.
  • Ability to commit at least 75 percent effort to full-time study and no more than 10 hours of other employment per week.

  • A doctoral degree from an accredited school in a discipline relevant to cancer prevention and control.
  • A research focus in cancer control consistent with the ongoing work of a primary and secondary mentor.
  • A primary mentor with a program of ongoing, peer reviewed, extramurally funded research at R01 level or equivalent.
  • Evidence of peer reviewed scholarly work with a combination of first author and co-authored publications.
  • Joint development (Mentor and Fellow) of a training plan.
  • Evidence of primary research focus in cancer prevention and control with desire to have interdisciplinary training.
  • Ability to commit at least 75 percent effort to full-time study and no more than 10 hours of other employment per week.

Eligibility requirements

Only U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals, and permanent U.S. residents may be appointed to a T32. Trainees who do not have this status must have a valid Alien Registration Receipt Card (I-551) “Green Card." Anyone on a temporary or student visa is not eligible.
