ASCO 2023

Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers will share their findings and expertise at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Findings on breast cancer, lung cancer, testicular cancer, pediatric cancers and prevention are among the highlights of the 39 abstracts by cancer center researchers during the June 2-6 meeting in Chicago.

As the world’s leading organization of its kind, ASCO brings together oncology professionals from around the world each year for its annual meeting. The meeting regularly attracts more than 40,000 oncology professionals.

Cancer center and IU School of Medicine researchers are authors on five oral abstract sessions, one clinical science symposium and 19 poster sessions. Another 14 abstracts will be included in the online publication. Each of these research abstracts was selected by the ASCO Scientific Program Committee from thousands of submissions. Jennifer Schwartz, M.D., and Bryan Schneider, M.D., are each presenting during education sessions and serve as the sessions’ chair and moderator.

Additionally, Patrick J. Loehrer, M.D., will receive the ASCO Humanitarian Award for his service and leadership both at home and abroad. The award will be presented June 4 during the Mentorship and Career Development Roundtable: A Discussion with ASCO’s Special Award Recipients. Read a Q&A with Dr. Loehrer on the importance of humanitarian work in oncology.
