IU cancer experts among best minds in cancer research at upcoming AACR annual meeting
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2023 kicks off this Friday, and many of our researchers will present impactful work that moves cancer research forward. With nearly 40 abstracts selected for the meeting, the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center will be well-represented during the April 14-19 meeting in Orlando. The annual meeting brings together the best minds in cancer research from around the globe.
IU highlights include:
- Attaya Suvannasankha, M.D., will present “Safety and efficacy from the phase 1/2 first-in-human study of REGN5459, a BCMA×CD3 bispecific antibody with low CD3 affinity, in patients with relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma” during the Promising Novel Antitumor Strategies in Early Phase Clinical Trials oral session Monday, April 17. The study was selected for the AACR press program—chosen from the nearly 6,300 research abstracts that are part of the meeting—and Dr. Suvannasankha will participate in an AACR press conference in Orlando. AACR and cancer center news releases will be issued Monday morning.
- Cancer center trainee Aditi Khatpe received the AACR-Sanofi Scholar-in-Training Award for her abstract entitled “TONSL is an immortalizing oncogene of the chromosome 8q24.3 amplicon and new therapeutic target in breast cancer.” The associated paper will be published in the AACR’s April 15 issue of the journal Cancer Research; Hari Nakshatri, Ph.D., is the corresponding author.
The AACR Annual Meeting program covers the latest discoveries across the spectrum of cancer research — from population science and prevention; to cancer biology, translational, and clinical studies; to survivorship and advocacy — and highlights the work of the best in research and medicine from institutions all over the world.
