IU Global offers Intercultural Competence Certificate

IU Global invites faculty, staff and graduate students on all IU campuses to participate in the fall 2024 Intercultural Competence Certificate program.

This free professional development opportunity is open to IU employees who want to understand the complexities of intercultural communication and collaboration. Participants will engage in interactive, in-depth conversations around culture and identity and learn about the importance of intercultural competence and the impact it has on your work, whether in interactions with students, colleagues or the community at large.

Completing the certificate requires fewer than 10 hours. You must complete four sessions total and at least one session from each category: Knowledge, Attitude and Skills. You can also attend one intercultural event and submit a short impact paragraph in lieu of a session.

A variety of sessions are offered on Fridays from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Participants can pick which sessions they like, and they can carry over sessions into the spring semester to complete the certificate. Each session is led by a professionally trained staff member.

Cancer center trainee, staff and faculty participation in the program helps to measurably address the center’s Plan to Enhance Diversity (PED) specific aim towards engaging the internal community in learning and applying various DEI approaches to our cancer education, research and practice.

Learn more and register for upcoming sessions.
