Skin Cancer Prevention

Our experts suggest these tips for protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful rays:

  • Wear light, reflective colors or clothing with an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF).
  • Use sunscreen on exposed skin and reapply every two hours or after sweating or swimming. Ensure it is broad-spectrum with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30. Don't forget your lips and ears!
  • Put on a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from UV rays.
  • Limit your time in direct sunlight. Find a shady spot or bring shade with you.
  • Don’t forget to protect your skin and lips even in the fall and winter when the sun’s rays aren’t as direct.
