In recognition of National Lung Cancer Screening Day and Veterans Day, End Lung Cancer Now is partnering with IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital to provide free lung cancer screening scans for veterans. A small resource fair will be available and light refreshments will be provided.
Did you know? Compared to the general population, military service members are 25 percent more likely to receive a lung cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.
Early detection matters. Lung cancer often exhibits minimal to zero symptoms in its early stages. This screening can detect potential cancerous growths at their earliest, most treatable stage. This provides a higher chance of successful treatment.
You deserve peace of mind. By taking advantage of this free screening, you can proactively monitor your lung health and receive timely intervention if needed. Early detection significantly increases survival rates and improves long-term outcomes.
Veterans between the ages 50 and 80, with a 20 pack-year smoking history (e.g. – 1 pack smoked per day for 20 years OR 2 packs smoked per day for 10 years) and who currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years are eligible for this free screening.
You will receive a non-invasive low-dose CT scan, performed by an experienced medical professional. This low-dose CT scan is quick and painless and will only take 20 minutes from start to finish. No pre-scan procedures are required.
Following your screening, a dedicated team of healthcare specialists will guide you through your screening results and recommend any necessary follow-up.
