IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center research to be presented at 2025 ASCO, the world’s leading oncology meeting
Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers will share their findings and expertise at the 2025 Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). Findings on breast, lung, prostate, and testicular cancers and cancer prevention are among the highlights of the more than 40 abstracts by cancer center researchers during the May 30-June 3 meeting in Chicago. As the world’s leading organization of its kind, ASCO brings together oncology professionals from around the world each year for its annual meeting. The meeting regularly attracts more than 40,000 oncology professionals.
IU highlights include:
- Lawrence Einhorn, MD, is a panelist for the education session, Refining Treatment for Patients with Metastatic Germ-Cell Tumors, on June 2. He will present "Pitfalls in the Management of Metastatic Germ-Cell Tumors." Additional education sessions will be presented by Anita Turk, MD, and Nasser Hanna, MD, on June 2. Attaya Suvannasankha, MD, will present an education session on June 3.
- Misty Shields, MD, PhD, is a panelist for the case-based panel, “Navigating Emerging Therapeutic Decisions in the Treatment of Small Cell Lung Cancer: Cases and Considerations” on June 2. She will present the “Medical Oncologist Perspective.”
- Rita Assi, MD, will moderate the “Hematologic Malignancies—Leukemia, Myelodysplastic Syndromes, and Allotransplant” oral abstract session on June 2.
Cancer center members, fellows and IU School of Medicine researchers are authors on three oral abstract sessions and 22 poster abstracts. Another 16 abstracts will be included in the online publication. Each of these research abstracts was selected by the ASCO Scientific Program Committee from thousands of submissions.

Connect at the IU Division of Hematology/Oncology Reception
The IU Division of Hematology/Oncology is hosting a reception for IU faculty, staff, fellows, students and alumni attending ASCO. The reception will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Loews Chicago Hotel City View Terrace.
