April 10-11, 2026
Several investigators in the Midwest conduct basic scientific research on papillomaviruses (PV) and polyomaviruses (PyV) to better understand how these infections lead to host cell dysregulation, pre-cancerous lesions, and malignancies in people.
Rachel Katzenellenbogen, MD, of Indiana University, Marsha DeSmet, PhD, of Marian University, and Dohun Pyeon, PhD, of Michigan University, are hosting the fifth Midwest Symposium on PV and PyV Research. They are delighted to welcome researchers to the two-day event dedicated to increasing knowledge, fostering collaboration and building community. Beyond the presentations, attendees are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to connect through small group discussions, shared meals, and casual conversations to generate collaborations.
The symposium's mission is to:
- Stimulate new ideas and research aims among scientists with in-depth knowledge of the PV and PyV field, leading both to a better understanding of current work and the development of cutting edge, novel research ideas.
- Identify commonality across PV and PyV research.
- Foster collaboration among researchers with common laboratory techniques and complementary resources.
- Support synergy and community among faculty across universities and institutes.
The full agenda is forthcoming. Attendees are responsible for their travel arrangements. Registration is free.
