End Lung Cancer Now receives award from Indiana Cancer Consortium

End Lung Cancer Now, an initiative of the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, has been awarded the Indiana Cancer Consortium Outstanding Contributions in Cancer Control Organization Award. This prestigious award is presented to organizations that make major contributions to cancer control in the area(s) of primary prevention, early detection, treatment, quality of life, data, and/or advocacy.

State of the Cancer Center

Kelvin Lee, M.D., director of the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, will present the annual State of the Cancer Center address at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 9, as part of the weekly Seminar Series, in Walther Hall, room 203. A reception will follow in the Walther Hall atrium.

Shadia Jalal, MD (EDT), was named a deputy director supporting the National Oncology Program at the VA. In this role, she will serve as a primary subject matter expert for medical oncology and provide clinical oversight for medical oncology at VA centers nationwide.

Chien-Chi Lin, PhD (TMM), was inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering College of Fellows. It’s among the highest professional distinctions given to medical and biological engineers, composed of the top 2 percent of engineers in these fields. Learn more.

Nabil Adra, MD (EDT), was named to the 2024 class of IBJ’s Forty Under 40. Each year, the Indianapolis Business Journal honors 40 leaders who have demonstrated leadership, initiative, and dedication in their fields. Adra was chosen from among 250 nominees.

Reuben Kapur, PhD (HHM), and Ngoc Tung Tran, PhD (HHM), received a four-year, $2.7 million grant to explore hypoxia’s impact on blood stem cells. Read the announcement.
