In my young career experience, I had the opportunity of taking care of children and families diagnosed with cancer. I have witnessed firsthand the detrimental side effects chemotherapy can have on their lives both physically and the emotional toll on their entire family. My current clinical and research interests include investigating the role of evidence based, integrated supportive care plans in pediatric oncology patients. I have received intramural and extramural funding (by both the AAO and AOA) to pursue patient, caregiver, and oncology provider views of supportive care in both a qualitative and quantitative fashion. With our initial preclinical results, my team is excited to be conducting the first osteopathic clinical trial involving pediatric cancer patients investigating safety, feasibility, and efficacy of osteopathic medicine. My research focuses on leukemia and lymphoma patients, with special attention to vincristine induced side effects including chemotherapy constipation, neuropathy, and poor quality of life in these patients.
