Dr. Delgado-Calle's research interests include:

My research focuses on understanding the mechanisms by which myeloma cells alter the biology of other cells in the tumor/bone marrow microenvironment with the final goal of identifying targetable factors for the treatment of multiple myeloma. My expertise is on bone biology and pathophysiology, with experience in ex vivo and in vitro models to study bone-tumor biology, and characterization of tumor growth and bone remodeling in animal models of multiple myeloma -induced bone disease using genetic and pharmacologic approaches. Current projects in my laboratory investigate the effects of Wnt and Notch signaling between myeloma cells and bone cells on MM growth and dormancy and bone destruction, and . Other projects in my laboratory investigate the crosstalk between bone and adipose tissues that regulates body fat and whole-body metabolism. Moreover, I collaborate in studies examining the role of bone cells in cancer-induced bone pain and muscle weakness, and the deleterious effects that glucocorticoids have in the skeleton.
