Lung Cancer Screening: A Decade of Advances, Challenges and Opportunities
For more than a decade, lung cancer screening has been recommended for those at high risk to decrease deaths from lung cancer by earlier detection. As part of #LungCancerAwarenessMonth, our experts discuss the current state of lung cancer screening, challenges to its implementation and opportunities for improving and expanding lung cancer screening.
Our speakers have extensive experience in establishing, studying and running lung cancer screening programs. Catherine R. Sears, M.D., is a practicing pulmonologist and physician-scientist focused on improving early lung cancer development and detection who directs the lung screening program at the Roudebush VA Medical Center. DuyKhanh P. Ceppa, M.D., is a board-certified thoracic surgeon who established the lung cancer screening program at IU Health. You will learn about current recommendations for lung cancer screening, successes and ongoing challenges of implementation, and research efforts ongoing to improve access and impact of lung cancer screening for patients.
