The Unexpected Journey to Global Oncology
In 2020, cancer patients at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Western Kenya had access to radiation therapy for the very first time. This marked a significant step forward in a vision IU Distinguished Professor Dr. Patrick Loehrer has been molding for more than 15 years as he dreamed of improving both cancer care and research in Kenya.
In this Simon Says session, Dr. Loehrer discusses his unexpected journey to Kenya and how the work he and his colleagues do there has implications for underserved patients in Indiana and beyond. Barbara Lewis West, a former anchor/reporter specializing in medicine and science, moderates.
This month’s Simon Says is presented by the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, AMPATH, and the IU Center for Global Health.
