Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Indiana. In 2024 alone, an estimated 5,930 Hoosiers will be diagnosed with lung cancer. However, early detection can save lives. Lung cancer screening is a powerful tool that helps detect the disease at its earliest and most treatable stages.
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends annual lung cancer screening with a low-dose CT scan for adults who meet the following criteria:
The screening initiative is a collaborative effort among the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement and the center’s End Lung Cancer Now initiative, American Cancer Society, and the Indiana Cancer Consortium.
