The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center’s nearly 280 research members include basic, clinical, and population science investigators. Our members are faculty at IU School of Medicine, IU School of Nursing, Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at IU Indianapolis, and other schools across the university.

We lead treatment advances for breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, testis, and thoracic cancers, as well as hematologic disorders, thymoma and thymic carcinoma, tumors associated with neurofibromatosis type 1 (primarily in children), and umbilical stem cell transplantation.

Become a cancer center member

Membership in the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center is open to full-time faculty of Indiana University or IU Indianapolis, or other universities in Indiana, who contribute on some level to the overall mission of the cancer center in areas of research, education, patient care, or community outreach.

To apply for membership, complete and submit our online form. Applicants will be notified of membership status via e-mail. Apply Today

Faculty are generally proposed for membership by a research program leader or a department chair, but all interested and eligible people are invited to apply. All members' eligibility is reviewed on an annual basis to assure that the high membership standards of the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center are maintained.

Applications are reviewed for eligibility and a recommendation is made by the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center's Leadership Council, with the final decision made by the director. There is no membership fee.

Full Membership

For research or clinical faculty. Members are expected to make meaningful contributions to the research mission of the cancer center.

Associate Membership

For newly-recruited, full-time research faculty who have not obtained cancer-related funding and are in their start-up period, as well as research assistant professors/research scientists.

Affiliate Membership

For clinical faculty (full-time, or part-time) who advance the mission of the cancer center through research, service, and/or education.

Trainee Membership

For graduate students, postdocs, and fellows involved in cancer research.

Membership Community at IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center

The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center makes deliberate efforts to cultivate a membership who is engaged in conducting research, service or education reflecting the broad experiences, perspectives, and characteristics of the community at large. Our membership is focused on two key areas: researchers/clinicians within the cancer center community and the unique breadth of research and trials they conduct. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to recruit and retain broad thinking top talent to innovate research, patient care, and clinical trials.
