My research has focused on the influence of nutrition on the immune system and the implications on musculoskeletal health. In particular, our work has focused on the gut-bone axis for many years. I have a growing interest in the impact of dietary factors (i.e., prebiotics) and nutrition status on skeletal health in survivors of gynecologic cancers. Targeting the gut microbiome with prebiotics is a promising approach to improving both immune (i.e., T cell biology) and skeletal health. My laboratory is interested in the influence on survivorship and recurrence in this patient population, especially patients who are treated with immunotherapy.
