I am interested in cellular and molecular mechanisms regulating myeloma bone disease. I am currently studying the effect of bone marrow derived Activin A on the osteoclastogenic effect of IL-3 in multiple myeloma, and plan to further characterize the specific cell type responsible for Activin A production, and determine the mechanism by which Activin A enhances osteoclastogenesis. I am also investigating the role of osteoclast-derived factors, specifically Annexin II, a factor known to enhance myeloma cell growth, in the enhanced angiogenesis of multiple myeloma.
