My research focus is in behavioral cancer control and prevention, specifically related to HPV infection. Currently, I am examining factors associated with HPV vaccine acceptance among boys and girls, as well as potential acceptability among adults. Using a variety of methodological and theoretical approaches, we are attempting to understand how adolescents, parents, and health care providers make decisions regarding the HPV vaccine, with the aim of developing persuasive health messages which will increase vaccine uptake. Additionally, we are interested in how health care providers communicate HPV testing results with their patients, and what effect this has on future utilization of cervical cancer screening services.
