My research is focused on the use of structural and functional MRI to gain greater understanding of neurocognitive dysfunction in neuropsychiatric and neurological populations. I have worked since 2001 with Dr. Andrew Saykin on cognitive and neuroimaging studies of cancer and treatment-related cognitive changes in breast cancer. Since coming to IU in 2007 I have also collaborated with Drs. Fred Unverzagt and Vickie Champion on a breast cancer survivor study. I have ongoing collaborations with Drs. Tim Ahles and Denise Correa (MSKCC) on projects in breast and ovarian cancer (pending),and with Dr. Robert Ferguson (Eastern Maine Medical Center) in rehabilitation of cognitive problems after breast cancer chemotherapy. My own program of research focuses on pediatric populations. I have ongoing funded projects examining cognitive functioning in pediatric leukemia, brain injury, and epilepsy, as well as healthy children. My longer-term goal is to obtain NIH support to further examine brain function and treatment response in children treated for ALL as well as those who have suffered traumatic brain injury.
