My clinical and research interests are in prostate and kidney cancer. My early work has been in predicting renal function loss during the surgical removal of small renal masses from kidneys. We have an IU-Health Values grant and are conducting a RCT. I'm also interested in targeted imaging and have a CTSI-CTR grant to collaborate with Purdue University for intra-operative real time kidney cancer detection. I also work with large databases such as NIS (Nationwide Inpatient Sample) and NCDB (National Cancer Database) on outcomes related projects and am able to perform my own statistical analyses using STATA. I have two accepted abstracts related to NCDB projects that should be publications shortly in addition to NIS publications. Future directions include targeted imaging agents for more accurate cancer staging and real-time targeted imaging agents for improved cancer treatment/resection. One example would be better localization of prostate cancer using 3T MP-MRI, which allows organ preserving targeted treatment with HIFU.
