Dr. Asmaa El-Kenawi Lab at Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center studies metabolic interactions within the prostate tumor microenvironment. Through the integration of advanced multi-omic techniques, including liquid chromatography (LC) in conjunction with high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), we aim to understand the pivotal roles of amino acids and cholesterol in orchestrating immune suppression. Our research demonstrates that alteration in these metabolic circuits can significantly contribute to therapy resistance and the heightened disease burden observed in African American men with prostate cancer.
