My current interests are in the development of novel approaches to the treatment of lung cancer, in particular, immunotherapy-based approaches. I have two ongoing trials looking at consolidation immunotherapy following standard of care chemoradiation for stage III NSCLC. I also have trials looking at the utility of continuing immunotherapy after progression in metastatic NSCLC and the addition of immunotherapy to chemoradiation and surgery in operable stage III NSCLC. Our studies include many correlatives to help define key biomarkers for response and toxicity during treatment with immune therapy agents, and we are looking at ways to improve the early detection of cancer cells in patients who have undergone curative therapy. I have collaborations with labs both at Indiana University and other cancer centers working to improve translational research and bring new therapies and tests from the bench to the bedside. I have also worked to implement a portfolio of clinical trials for patients with cancers of the head and neck.
