IU vs. Cancer

IU is a national leader in cancer research

The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center is the central hub of all cancer research and education across Indiana University. Our more than 300 researchers are working to bring hope and healing to individuals fighting cancer in Indiana and beyond. IU alumni represent doctors, nurses, staff, patients, survivors, caregivers, advocates and family. Together, we are one team: IU vs. Cancer.

For a limited time, the IU Foundation and Madison Schwarz are contributing $100 for every gift of $100 or more made to IU cancer research – up to $20,000! Join the IU vs. Cancer campaign today!

Did you know?

  • We have met the gold standards for cancer research and care. We are Indiana’s ONLY National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center – and one of only 57 in the nation. We are also Indiana’s only member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, placing us at the forefront of developing the nationally recognized standard of care for all cancers.
  • Within the cancer center are a number of focused research centers, including the Vera Bradley Foundation Center for Breast Cancer Research, the Tom and Julie Wood Center for Lung Cancer Research, the Brown Center for Immunotherapy, and the Center for Global Oncology.
  • IU researchers led by Lawrence Einhorn, MD, developed the chemotherapy regimen to cure testis cancer. More than 400,000 lives have been saved since that 1974 landmark discovery.
  • Our Komen Tissue Bank is home to the world’s only collection of healthy breast cancer tissue samples for research.
  • We are national leaders in pediatric cancer research in our partnership with Riley Hospital for Children.
