To better connect IU’s 250 cancer experts with our community, we’ve launched “Simon Says Expert Series,” a monthly virtual event where you’ll have the opportunity to hear from cancer center experts about various topics and ask your questions.
The next Simon Says event, Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop: Coping Effectively with Fear of Cancer Recurrence, will be at noon ET Tuesday, July 27.
Fear of recurrence is one of the most common and disruptive sources of distress during cancer survivorship. Even when recurrence risk is low, many survivors struggle with this understandable concern. IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center researcher Shelley Johns, PsyD, studies fear of recurrence. In this Simon Says session, she will discuss how her research seeks to support survivors in coping effectively when struggling with anxiety related to “waiting for the other shoe to drop.”
IU School of Nursing Assistant Professor Andrea Cohee, PhD, also specializes in fear of recurrence and will moderate the event.
