World Lung Cancer Day is globally recognized on August 1 each year as a day to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and highlight the importance of research and early detection. Join End Lung Cancer Now on Wednesday, July 29 to honor this important mission and to show support for all of those who have been impacted by the disease.

This program is supported through a generous gift honoring the McHenry and Sherman families, who share a vision to support young physicians who aspire to have a meaningful academic career in lung cancer clinical care and research.

Lung cancer screening saves lives. The 6th Annual Gathering will focus on the critical role screening and early detection play in improving outcomes for those diagnosed with lung cancer.
Our goal is to educate, empower, and build awareness around innovative strategies to screen more people and dramatically increase survival rates. This event will serve as a powerful launch for Lung Cancer Awareness Month and inspire proactive action and lasting change.

The 5th Annual Gathering highlighted the important fact that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer and underscored the need to understand risk in order to lead meaningful change. National experts joined us to discuss key modifiable risk factors and explore strategies we can implement together to help protect current and future generations. Event highlights included:

The 2025 award recipient was Mya Tran, PharmD, BCOP, a precision oncology clinical pharmacist at the cancer center. She presented "Translating Genomics into Practice: A Comprehensive Approach to Lung Cancer Precision Medicine Through Molecular Profiling and Clinical Integration.”
Dr. Tran specializes in analyzing genomic data and recommending targeted therapies for solid tumor patients across the IU Health system, with particular expertise in lung cancer care.
