World Lung Cancer Day is globally recognized on August 1 each year as a day to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and highlight the importance of research and early detection. Join End Lung Cancer Now on Wednesday, July 29 to honor this important mission and to show support for all of those who have been impacted by the disease.

Lung cancer screening saves lives. The 6th Annual End Lung Cancer Now Gathering will focus on the critical role screening and early detection play in improving outcomes for those diagnosed with lung cancer.
This year’s event will bring together patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, researchers, advocates, and community members to explore the latest advancements, challenges, and future directions in lung cancer screening and early detection.

Our goal is to educate, empower, and build awareness around innovative strategies that can help screen more people, detect cancer earlier, and save lives. The Gathering will also serve as a meaningful kickoff to Lung Cancer Awareness Month and inspire continued action across Indiana and beyond.

Walking for Dreams brought the End Lung Cancer Now community together for an afternoon filled with hope, connection, and purpose. Families, friends, advocates, survivors, caregivers, and supporters gathered to walk alongside one another and help raise funds for Hoosiers impacted by lung cancer.

Together, participants raised more than $9,000 to help provide care kits and meaningful support to patients and families facing lung cancer.
The NextGen Heroes: A Student Experience brought students together to discover how their unique strengths and interests can help make a meaningful difference in the fight against lung cancer. Through interactive activities, advocacy opportunities, and conversations centered around prevention and awareness, participants explored ways to create impact both on campus and in their communities.

The 5th Annual Gathering highlighted the important fact that anyone with lungs can get lung cancer and underscored the need to understand risk in order to lead meaningful change. National experts joined us to discuss key modifiable risk factors and explore strategies we can implement together to help protect current and future generations. Event highlights included:

The 2025 award recipient was Mya Tran, PharmD, BCOP, a precision oncology clinical pharmacist at the cancer center. She presented "Translating Genomics into Practice: A Comprehensive Approach to Lung Cancer Precision Medicine Through Molecular Profiling and Clinical Integration.”
Dr. Tran specializes in analyzing genomic data and recommending targeted therapies for solid tumor patients across the IU Health system, with particular expertise in lung cancer care.
