My position as a breast surgeon enables me to work with patients in all aspects of breast disease, including those with benign diagnoses, cancers, and high risk populations. I hope to be involved in the bringing of data from the basic sciences to everyday clinics. Areas of research that I hope to focus on include the following:
I am interested in looking at the management of women who are at high risk of developing breast cancer, evaluating their choices regarding screening and risk reduction and the outcomes of each.
Women under 40 with breast cancer have different expectations, needs, and issues while undergoing treatment. This is especially of interest as we are trending to more personalized care.
My work at Wishard Memorial hospital will allow me to perform research looking at disparities in breast cancer care based on ethnicity and socioeconomic status.
In addition, I hope to do some work with the less common types of cancers, including sarcomas and inflammatory breast cancers.
