Member Biography

As a professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, two of my main research goals are directly related to the objectives of the IU Simon Cancer Center. The first is better understanding the role of osteoblasts in the hematopoietic stem cell niche. Specifically, we hope to better understand the role of osteoblasts, bone marrow stromal cells, and megakaryocytes in expansion and longevity of hematopoietic stem cells. Second, we have begun studying the role of Mdm2 and megakaryocytes in regulating tumor progression and metastasis in osteosarcoma.
