I am a new faculty member in the Division of Surgical Oncology and have a research appointment at the Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement Center (SOQIC) within the department of surgery. During my training, I earned a Master's of Science degree in Health Services and Outcomes Research from Northwestern University and completed a Chief Residency in Quality and Safety through the Veteran's Affairs national program. My research is focused on using quality improvement methodology to evaluate healthcare delivery, developing solutions for improvement, and implementing those solutions. Topically, my work has focused on reducing post-operative complications (e.g., reducing post-operative venous thromboembolism and surgical site infections), and evaluating adherence to quality measures in oncologic care.
Currently, I am involved in several quality improvement endeavors within the Academic Health System and am beginning to develop my independent research portfolio as a faculty member at Indiana University. I am currently developing a study protocol related to standardizing Hepatocellular Carcinoma secondary surveillance and intervention.
