About the collaboration
Fourteen years ago, the Komen Tissue Bank partnered with the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee to conduct Indy’s Super Cure, a legacy project of the Super Bowl. The event was a success: 665 women donated tissue, and $1 million was raised for the KTB. Indy’s Super Cure put the KTB on the map, enabling it to collect tissue from more than 5,000 people since its inception.
Today, by partnering with a movement at the forefront of service, sisterhood, and community Health, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the KTB’s goal is to further accelerate the race for a cure by focusing on breast cancer in Black women. Black women are more likely than white women to die from breast cancer, which affects 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. You can join sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha who are attending the Central Regional Conference and other Black women to physically participate in making a difference for future generations through their involvement in life-saving science.
