Sign up to join the Komen Tissue Bank team on Saturday, October 3rd, and walk with us at the Komen More Than Pink Walk! By supporting this event, you are supporting Susan G. Komen®, and therefore you are also helping to financially support the KTB! See how that works? Together, we’ll take steps in the fight against breast cancer and show our support for the research that brings us closer to a cure. Whether you’re walking to honor a loved one, celebrate survivors, or simply to stand with our community, we’d love to have you on our team. Come walk alongside us, connect with an amazing community, and be part of a day filled with hope, inspiration, and purpose. Did You Know: What’s Going on at the KTB?

Looking for a way to support the Komen Tissue Bank?

Believe it or not

In 2027, the Komen Tissue Bank will celebrate its 20th anniversary! How the years have flown. If you were around for our 10th birthday, you may have attended our party at the Colts Complex. We will definitely be partying again for this milestone! Please keep your eyes on your email in 2027 for details. As soon as we know more, you will too!
The KTB wishes a fond farewell to some of our summer interns

We extend our deep gratitude to Meg Baxter, Suleman Shahid, Mykal Ammons, Abdul Djama, Selene Molife, Gretchen Osmun, and Hannah Par, and wish them every success in the coming year. Our interns are invaluable members of the KTB team. Their enthusiasm, talents, and willingness to help ease our staff’s workload, keep important projects moving, and help advance our mission. Thank you for spending your summer with us and for everything you contributed to the KTB. May you thrive in the coming year. We can’t wait to see where you go next!

Why on Earth Does a Tissue Bank Have a TikTok?

It sounds like an odd pairing, but social media is where some of our most important work happens. Our feeds are a mix of easy-to-digest science, tissue donation education, event updates, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of our team and interns. Our digital presence serves two critical sides of the same mission. First, it helps us address the representation problem in science by connecting with young people and communities of color whose normal tissue samples are urgently needed for inclusive research. Second, it allows us to let global scientists know that these high-quality, diverse samples are readily available for request. Our social media accounts exist to solve these problems. When people interact with our pages, leave comments, or share our posts, they help increase our visibility. That visibility directly connects us with future donors and global researchers who need our data to study breast cancer. Come see what we are up to, chat with us, and help us spread the word.
