Jeanette Shamblen, founder of Creating Hope, discovered that painting with watercolors helped to relieve the stress of her cancer experience. Creating art can help individuals deal positively with the cancer in their life and find hope.
Creating Hope gives patients the opportunity to start the creative process by distributing free art kits. Pick up your free watercoloring kit on Thursdays in the Indiana Cancer Pavilion. For more information about Creating Hope, call (317) 595-8513 or visit Creating Hope.
The Cancer Mosaic Collaborative is another ongoing project transforming the combined stories of lives touched by cancer into works of art, both visual and written. Workshops are scheduled throughout the year to create mosaics that will be displayed in the new patient care facility of the IU Simon Cancer Center. To schedule future workshops, please contact Christine by calling (317) 278-6871 or by e-mailing crautenb@iupui.edu.
