Golfers Against Cancer, Columbus, Tee Time is August 1

July 20, 2005: Golfers Against Cancer, Columbus; is proud to announce their 4th Annual Shannon L. Casey Mers Memorial golf outing on August 1, 2005. The golf outing benefits bone caner research at Indiana University. It will be held this year at the Little Turtle Country Club in Westerville, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, and includes lunch, dinner and a silent auction.

The day will begin with registration from 10:00am until the shotgun start at 11:30am. Lunch, courtesy of Frank Schreck of Extended Resources, will be available during this time. A silent auction will be in progress all day. Appetizers provided by Little Turtle Country Club will be available from 4:00 until dinner. Dinner and live auction start at 5:30pm.

Guests of Honor this year will include:

  • Joseph P. Bidwell, PhD, director of the Osteosarcoma Research Program at Indiana University.
  • Caitlin Shoup, a 17-year-old osteosarcoma survivor from Massillon, Ohio.
  • Bradley Wilson, osteosarcoma survivor honored in 2003 at the age of 9.
  • Barbara and Sheldon Silverstein, from the Golfers Against Cancer's Karen Silverstein D'Amico Memorial golf outing in Rochester, NY, who will present their check to Dr. Bidwell in the amount raised in their GAC tournament on July 24th, 2005.

Since August of 2002, Golfers Against Cancer, Columbus, has raised about $70,000 for bone cancer research at Indiana University. We hope this year to bring that amount to over $100,000.
