Story from Enrique

Enrique is a 25 years old and was diagnosed with osteosarcoma when he was 15. Enrique is unique because he had some unusual complications, causing him to go through several surgeries and delaying chemotherapy. Enrique finally decided that amputation of his leg was the best thing for him to do. After his trying experience, Enrique still relays his appreciation and positive outlook for the future.

Story from Liyue: 2003

Liyue shares her story about the day she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right tibia when she was 12 years old. She wants to share with you that even when her leg needed to be amputated, she felt grateful to be alive and was able to adjust to her new life at school and at home. Even though amputation isn't a common form of treatment for osteosarcoma, Liyue's experiences may allow you to understand some of the emotions that you may have and to help you realize that you're not alone.

Nina's story portrays the image of teenager with hope and strength. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her knee shortly before high school graduation, this avid gymnast was able to overcome the side effects of chemotherapy and limb salvage surgery to go onto college. Now that Nina is cancer free, she offers insight into how she approached friends with news of her cancer and how she handled her academic life.

Story from Natalie

Natalie was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at age 21. She had a rare form of osteosarcoma in which the tumor formed in the sphenoid sinus bone (at the base of the skull). Natalie tells us how osteosarcoma delayed her normal college life, but allowed her to gain a new perspective on her family, life, and place in this world. She is now an elementary school teacher, who is excited to be known as a cancer survivor. She hopes that you may be able to find hope through reading her story.
