IU Simon Cancer Center names Dr. Nakshatri associate director for education
INDIANAPOLIS -- (Sep. 22, 2009) -- The Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center has named Harikrishna Nakshatri, B.V.Sc., Ph.D., associate director for education.
Dr. Nakshatri -- the Marian J. Morrison Professor in Breast Cancer Research, a professor of surgery, a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology with the IU School of Medicine, and a researcher with the IU Simon Cancer Center -- will be responsible for overseeing faculty development and training programs at the cancer center. He will also be responsible for scholarship programs, seminars, and other education events.
Dr. Nakshatri also becomes a senior leader at the cancer center in which he will play a key role in setting the strategic direction, policies, and priorities of all educational and outreach activities.
Dr. Nakshatri earned his bachelor of veterinary sciences from the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bangalore, India, and his doctorate from Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, Canada. He completed his post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France.
